We’re gearing up to kick off sunny springtime with lots of festivities and afterschool fun with our beat dropping programs. We also know that for a lot of schools in the area, spring also means fundraising time—or FUNdraising time, as we like to make it.

Funky Divas & Dudes runs hip-hop dance classes at the American Martyrs Academy in Manhattan Beach. When the school planned their annual Spring, Sports & Spirit Fundraiser, they thought a performance from our hip-hop crew would be a great addition to all the fun—and we couldn’t agree more! So, we decided to make it as epic as possible.
The event was held at the beautiful Westdrift Resort and golf club on a sunny Saturday. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. The Funky Divas & Dudes had a booth in a prime spot in the Fun Zone right next to the DJ for our crew to dance. We stocked our table with funky fun accessories, and kids stopped by to rock out by the disco ball.
The Fun Zone was jam packed with activities including rock climbing, bounce castles and slides, minigolf practice, face paint, and hula hoops. To keep up the awesome vibes, everyone re-energized with burgers, hot dogs and an ice cream truck. The smiles, laughs, and killer moves were endless! We had so much fun out there with all of these kiddos.
The Funky Divas & Dudes dressed up in Rockstar Gear and performed three routines and showed off their freestyle moves on the center stage! We were so proud of our tiny but mighty group—they really did a fantastic job and stopped the audience in their tracks with synchronized steps.
It was an amazing way to kick off springtime by having some family fun and of course getting our grooves on! Can’t wait for our next event!
