Funky Divas & Dudes had such a great time being a part of this fun cheerleader birthday party for sweet Imogene. It was an intimate party, with five of Imogene’s closest friends there to celebrate their best friend turning ten. Of course, Imogene was the star of the show. She loved the camera and the camera loved her!
Preparing the Rockstar Models
We started the kids birthday party off with hair and makeup, which the girls absolutely loved. These divas had to be camera ready for their debut in their very own music video. We provided the Rockstar clothes and accessories which included sparkle hats, gloves, skirts, sunglasses and netted gloves. It was so much fun to see the way each girl personalized her own rockstar outfit.
Imogene’s Perfect Day
To prepare for their big event, the day included a fabulous director of photography and a Funky Divas Choreographer. The girls were the perfect models, super energetic and excited for their celeb treatment. They couldn’t wait to get to filming! They practiced and prepared a routine to the birthday girl’s song of choice, the Felix Jaehn Remix of Cheerleader by OMI. The video was filmed on a beautiful Los Angeles day at the home of the star, birthday girl Imogene, at her gorgeous Pacific Palisades home.
It was the perfect day to be outside with friends and family. This was such an awesome and creative way to celebrate Imogene’s birthday and I’m sure it’ll be a memory these girls will never forget.

- Meet Sanaya and Shrey, a brother and sister who just recently had a joint birthday party to celebrate such a fun and exciting time in their lives! These two are close in age (7 and 9 years old), and it was so sweet to see them spend such a beautiful day together!
Sanaya and Shrey’s Descendants Themed Birthday BashTheir special day took place at Joslyn Park in Santa Monica, and they had quite the turnout! Forty girls and boys attended, leaving the birthday boy and girl feeling a lot of love at their party. Sanaya and Shrey absolutely love Disney’s The Descendants, and there was no better theme to fit their big day than just that! Funky Divas & Dudes provided the entertainment for the party. Our instructors were dressed like Mal and Jay from The Descendants 2 movie, and they stayed in character the entire whole time. The party began with Descendant themed glitter cheek art (snake, heart, skull & crossbones, crown) and purple, blue, and white hair color (Descendants colors). This was the perfect activity to kick off the party as guests arrived. Sanaya and Shrey’s mom was so sweet, and decorated the room with lots of Descendants movie posters. Not to mention, The Descendant’s movie soundtracks played while we did cheek art, colored their hair, and played dance games.
Dancing the Day AwayOne of my favorite events was when we taught the kids a personalized dance routine to “You and Me” from Descendant’s 2 and performed it with cool bandanas (purple, blue, white and black to of course stay with the theme). The kids performed the dance routine for parents, we introduced the kids as students from Auradon Prep doing a routine for the Royal Cotillion, just like the movie. The party ended with a lot of fun, as well a few awesome party favors for each child to go home with. We played dance games with giveaways such as sunglasses, maracas, tinsel wands, and disco ball necklaces. Sanaya and Shrey’s mom also gave away fun notebooks and pencils personalized with each guest name on them. It’s safe to say that Sanaya and Shrey’s birthday party was an absolute success. Happy birthday to these two Rockstars!
We were so excited to celebrate Sophie’s second birthday with her and twenty of her little friends! The event transformed this family’s Los Angeles home into a Disney inspired party for the afternoon!
Sophie’s Magical Trip on her Disney Adventure
Growing up in the Los Angeles area of southern California, every little girl loves Minnie and all things Disneyland. For this sweet little girl, the room was decorated in pink and gold, and the table centerpieces were generous bouquets of pink roses. A magical trip to Disneyland need only be a few sweet steps away from the comfort of their home!
Sophie’s mom, Erica Tucker of Sweet E’s Bake Shop, provided gold mouse ears for all of the young guests, and we drew little mouse faces on each one as they arrived. How fun!
Showing Off their New-Found Skills
For the occasion, the Funky Divas & Dudes staff provided every aspect of the entertainment. To stay with the theme, our instructors wore pink Minnie Mouse outfits and sweet Minnie ears. We center our themed parties around teaching the children a dance routine from start to finish, and then have them show off their newly found skills and amazing personalities for family and friends. This always goes off without a hitch. For this party, we danced to “Shake It Off” complete with pink pom-pom props! The kids had an amazing time and it was so much fun to see them laugh and smile!
Fun and Games Galore
The afternoon was rounded out as Funky Divas & Dudes led the children in many other preschool dance games, including parachute, Beanie Baby boogie, and plenty of fun popping bubbles! As the party started to wind down, we ended with a round of freeze dance (a crowd favorite).
All the children left with lots of fun memories as well as prizes such as glitter microphones, maracas, tinsel wands, disco ball necklaces. And, let’s not forget those spectacular gold mouse ears which are sure to come in handy during their next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!
Funky Divas & Dudes had an amazing time providing this Los Angeles Kids Birthday Entertainment for Liam and Kaila’s big day. These adorable twins, who were celebrating their 6th birthday party, held their Spanish themed party at their home in Westchester.
Kaila and Liam’s Spanish Fiesta
Thirty girls and boys came to dress up and party as Flamenco dancers and bull fighters. Of course, Funky Divas and Dudes was prepared and excited to help everyone get into character. As the guests arrived, everyone was painted up with Spanish glitter cheek art, adorned with flowers, hearts, and stars. Red and yellow hair color was also enjoyed by all, bringing the spirit of Spain to everyone. Even our instructors joined in the fun, dressing for the theme as a Flamenco dancer and Matador.
Dances, Games and Bounce House Fun
Mom provided themed props for the kids- flower hair clips for the girls and red matador capes for the boys. Mom and dad also rented a mechanical bull bounce house, which was so much fun! We did a conga line straight through it and the kids clearly thought this was an awesome idea. As part of this Los Angeles kid’s party, our instructors taught a personalized Flamenco dance to the kids, to “Salsa de Noche”, by the Gypsy Kings, which included some fun maraca shaking. In full character, the party animals performed the routine for their parents as well as put on a Spanish fashion show for everyone to show off their fans and capes.
Everyone rocked their moment on the runway. We wrapped things up with some fun Spanish dance games with awesome giveaways including glitter microphones, maracas, tinsel wands and disco ball necklaces for the guests to keep. We had a great time bringing Liam and Kaila’s dreams of a Spanish themed birthday to life!
As we celebrate the 16th anniversary of Funky Divas & Dudes we are proud to announce we were recently featured in an article in VoyageLA.com which you can read here.
We started our company as a little side job. More or less, as an opportunity to make some money while perusing our dance and acting careers. We quickly realized that our little side job was really where our passion truly lay. We started to realize that our little once a week, after school, enrichment dance class that started with a couple schools had the potential to impact so many more kids.
A Fresh Approach
We started to put everything into Funky Divas & Dudes. We now have three parts to our business:
- After School Enrichment Dance Classes
- Children’s Party Entertainment
- Performing Arts and Dance Camps
We have a highly qualified staff that have backgrounds in dance and performance themselves, which we train and teach our curriculum. This ensures that no matter where a child attends a class, the quality and experience are the same. Our dance classes and kid’s birthday parties are offered all across Los Angeles County. We offer extensive summer performing arts camps in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, as well as spring and winter camps.
We continue to run and manage all aspects of the business, as well as teach classes and perform at parties. Our goal has always been and continues to be for kids to learn dance in a “fun” way while keeping kids active and helping them build their self esteem. We are thrilled with the growth of Funky Divas & Dudes over the last 16 years and cannot wait to see where the next 16 leads!
- Camp is not only fur Summer. Funky Divas & Dudes offers a Pop Star Performing Arts Winter Camp too! We had an awesome time during the first week of our Kid’s Winter Camp in Los Angeles. We have one more rockin’ awesome week of camp, January 2nd-5th at Marine Park Auditorium in Santa Monica. Check us out and get your Funky Diva or Dude signed up for a week of fun!The goal of our Performing Arts Camp is to encourage self confidence, social skills, physical health and foster their imagination. We have a great time dressing up in pop star apparel and making rockin’ music videos. Our Pop Star Camp offers your little star the opportunity to shine. We guarantee your child will have a great time at Funky Divas & Dudes Camp as they participate in dance classes, fairy-tale theatre, starring in their very own TV commercials, acting classes, dance games, face painting, arts and crafts and more!We encourage fun, individuality and creativity with our “Theme Days”. Last week these included:
Monday: Snow Day – in which everyone paired their Funky Divas & Dudes shirt with their favorite winter wear, from hats to mittens
Tuesday: Rockstar Day – everyone put on their favorite outfit and accessories to dress like a Rockstar
Wednesday: Wacky Hair and Sock Day – everyone wore their favorite pair of crazy socks and proudly paraded a funky hairstyle for the day
Thursday: Fantasy Day – the kids got to dress as their favorite character in their most whimsical attire
Friday: Pajama Day – who doesn’t love a day where you can go to bed in the same outfit you are going to wear for the day?!? Everybody rocked out in their favorite PJs for the day.Invest in your kids health and creative side, and sign them up for a great time over their winter break. Our Pop Star Camp is fun for all and we would love to have your Funky Divas & Dudes join the fun!
Ella’s winter wonderland party was an absolute success and blast. Funky Divas & Dudes were thrilled to be back to celebrate her birthday for another year at her Los Angeles home. She’s been inviting the Funky Divas & Dudes crew to coordinate the entertainment for her L.A. birthday parties since her very first trip around our sun. That’s a whopping four years in a row! She is a true Funky Diva and we’ve loved watching her grow into a beautiful, sweet little girl.
Princess Ella’s Winter Wonderland
The theme and decor for this year’s party was inspired by Disney’s Frozen, so there was of course tons of glitter, silver and sparkles. Their yard looked absolutely incredible. They had a snow machine, “ice” dance floor (faux ice covering their pool) that looked like an ice skating rink, a cotton candy machine and giant cupcake penguin served as dessert. Yum! It snowed during the entire party, as we danced the day away.
Dressing the PartWe jump started the party with glitter cheek art as the guests arrived. Everyone got a snowflake, heart or star to go with their silver and gold sparkly hair color. This all went perfectly with Ella’s furry pink coat and silver sparkly skirt. Our instructors fully committed to the theme too, wearing skirts, jackets and even scarves; and of course, sparkles!Once everyone arrived, it was time to break out our dance moves. We love hosting dance parties! We taught a personalized dance routine to Taylor Swift’s, “Look What You Made Me Do”. These kids were true L.A. rockstars as they performed for their adoring fans- their moms and dads. As the party neared an end we closed things out with a game of rockstar freeze dance where the kids won some awesome giveaways to keep.Funky Divas & Dudes had a great time in Ella’s Winter Wonderland. It was great to get into the holiday spirit. After all, nothing says Christmas more than snow, even if it is being created by a machine.
- Elyse had the coolest 8 year old’s birthday bash! This little popstar invited the Funky Divas & Dudes to her birthday for the second year in a row, and we could not have been more excited to be a part of her rockstar festivities!
Rockin’ Out with ElyseHer Rockstar themed party had elements that even celebrities would envy. Every rockstar needs to be able to make an entrance. Elyse’s party delivered just that for her and her guests! Everyone entered the party on the red carpet and paused at the Funky Photo Booth and had images captured in front of the Funky Divas and Dudes Step and Repeat. Photo strips were printed from our Los Angeles Photo Booth for the rockin’ awesome party guests. Elyse’s Los Angeles home was transformed into a diva’s dream party venue. Thirty boys and girls attended and partied it up on the giant pink bounce house and dance floor that was set up under a tent on their lawn.
Dressing the PartFunky Divas & Dudes provided every element of this Los Angeles kid’s party. We started by helping each guest get in touch with their inner rockstar with some glitter cheek art and hair color as they arrived. Once everyone was feeling like a star we taught the party animals a personalized dance to DNCE’s Cake by the Ocean before whisking them away to wardrobe before their big performance. We dressed them up in awesome Rockstar apparel; funky sparkly tutu skirts, netted gloves, headset microphones, sequin hats, headbands, fluffy boa scarves, and colorful legwarmers. Then it was time for the kids to take to the stage and perform for their adoring fans, their parents. After their performance the kids rocked out freestyle on the dance floor to the rockin’ beats provided by Funky Divas & Dudes Los Angeles Party DJ, DeeJay. They had a ball doing the Limbo under a pink boa and forming a giant Conga Line around the pool. We brought the party to a close with some Rockin’ Dance Games with Giveaways; glitter microphones, maracas, tinsel wands & disco ball necklaces. Funky Divas & Dudes had such a great time as Elyse’s, Los Angeles Kids Dance Party Entertainment.
The Funky Divas and Dudes had a blast at Zoe’s 6th birthday party at Roxbury Park in Beverly Hills. Twenty-five boys and girls attended her 80’s themed Rockstar Party. This was Zoe’s second birthday in a row with us and we could not have been more excited to celebrate with this cool kid. Zoe is also a part of our after-school enrichment program where she learns hip-hop in the dance class we offer at her school. It’s easy to say, she has stolen our hearts over the years!
Zoe’s Rockstar Bash
We started off getting all the mini pop and rockstars decked out for the occasion with cheek art and hair color. The kids were not the only ones dressed up for the theme party. Parents came decked out too! There was no shortage of blue eye shadow or side ponytails. The birthday girl wore big sparkly lightning bolt earrings and all the kids sported 80s sunglasses and snap bracelets.
The next part of this Los Angeles dance party was for the Funky Divas and Dudes to teach a personalized dance routine for their big performance. These little Rockstars danced to “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper. They put on an impressive performance for their parents and ended with some Rockin’ Dance Games with giveaways to keep; glitter microphones, maracas, tinsel wands, and disco ball necklaces.
We absolutely adored seeing these kids let their inner rockstars shine. Don’t we all wish we could let loose with a child-like inhibition?
